Electrical Capacity Study Information Checklist

Provide the information you have without opening equipment or entering restricted electrical areas. Any site investigation, measurement, or testing should be arranged with appropriately qualified personnel.

Information to gather

  • Existing one-line diagram, riser diagram, and panel schedules.
  • Available service and distribution equipment inventory.
  • Existing and proposed equipment loads with manufacturer ratings.
  • Available demand, utility, and metering records.
  • Previous capacity studies or service-upgrade designs.
  • Utility correspondence relevant to the proposed work.
  • Information about anticipated operating patterns and simultaneous loads.
  • Proposed charger quantities or mechanical equipment selections.
  • Owner objectives for phasing, expansion, and future upgrades.
  • Access arrangements and known electrical-room constraints.

Use the list to define the next step

Identify what is available, what is missing, and who can provide the remaining records. This checklist helps prepare an engineering conversation; it is not a code compliance certification or approval.
